Verification Management
The verification agency issues the certificate. We manage everything around it.
By the time your verification starts, the work that determines your B-BBEE position should already have been done.
The strategy should have been implemented. The spend should be correct. The initiatives should be complete or properly accounted for. The data should reconcile. The evidence should exist.
Verification is where all of that gets tested.
MMH manages the process from preparation through to the final certificate, making sure the verification agency receives a file that clearly supports the position being claimed and that queries are dealt with properly when they arise.
What We Manage
Depending on the client and verification, this can include:
- Planning the verification process and timelines
- Preparing the evidence requirements for each applicable scorecard element
- Building and reviewing the verification file
- Checking supporting documents for completeness and consistency
- Reconciling relevant scorecard information to financial and payroll records
- Identifying evidence gaps before submission
- Preparing your internal team for the verification process
- Liaising with the appointed verification agency
- Managing information requests and verification queries
- Coordinating additional evidence where required
- Tracking outstanding items and deadlines
- Managing the close-out process
- Following the verification through until the final certificate is issued
How It Works
We work backwards from the certificate
We establish the applicable measurement period, expected verification timing, target level and what still needs to happen before the file is ready.
If we have been managing the B-BBEE process throughout the year, this starts long before the agency is appointed.
We get the evidence right
A scorecard claim is only as useful as the evidence supporting it.
We work with your team to collect, structure and review the documentation behind each applicable element.
If something is missing, inconsistent or unlikely to support the claim being made, we want to know before the verification agency does.
We prepare the file
The verification pack is built logically and reviewed before submission.
The goal is not to drown the agency in documents. It is to make sure the relevant evidence is there, it reconciles, and the position being presented can be followed.
We manage the verification agency
Once verification starts, MMH remains involved.
We manage communication, coordinate responses, deal with queries, work through requests for further evidence and keep the process moving.
Your team is not left trying to interpret verification questions or work out what should be submitted.
We stay on it until the certificate is issued
Verification is not finished because the initial file has been sent.
We manage the follow-ups, close-out items, outstanding information and final stages until the B-BBEE certificate is issued.
What We Cannot Do
MMH Consulting does not issue B-BBEE certificates and does not make the independent verification decision.
The final verification and certificate must be issued by the appropriately accredited verification agency.
That independence is important.
It also does not mean you should arrive at verification alone and hope for the best.
MMH manages the strategy, implementation, evidence and verification process around that independent assessment so that, when your business is measured, the position you have worked towards is properly supported.
More Than Verification Management
For many of our clients, Verification Management is not a once-off exercise.
We work with them throughout the measurement period, monitor the scorecard, help management make decisions, manage implementation and keep the evidence in order as the year progresses.
By the time verification arrives, there should be very few surprises.
That is the point.
